Park Officials Issue Reminder: Please Do Not Feed The Kraken

When Prospect Park officials released a Kraken into the the Prospect Park Lake last July, they knew it would be popular among the park’s millions of annual visitors.

A little too popular, according to Esteban Asturias, Assistant Director of Park Subterranean and Aquatic Fauna Acquisitions.

“We knew visitors would love it, like when we invited the Hill Giants into the park’s Woodlands area in 2014. What we didn’t expect was the enthusiasm for feeding it. The TikTok stunt performers, the online influencers, the Cultists of Dagon, The Order of Jormungandr, you name it, everyone wants to feed the Kraken.”

But the Prospect Park Alliance would like us to remember that “while we want everyone to enjoy the presence of our Kraken, please know that the Kraken is fed a very specific diet which does not in any way need to be supplemented by household pets, large non-native reptiles, human sacrifices, or anything of the sort.”

“Besides,” added Asturias, “the last thing we want is tentacles reaching up onto the shore to grab someone’s Pomeranian.”
