Mystery Tunnel Reappears, Temporarily Creating Cross-Park Passage

Mystery Tunnel Reappears, Temporarily Creating Cross-Park Passage

For the third time since 1867, a mysterious tunnel has appeared connecting a path near Sullivan Hill, in the northern part of Prospect Park, with the paths under Breeze Hill, in the southern part. The tunnel, or “spacial anomaly” as Prospect Park staff physicist/observational-phenomenologist Jayesh Subramani refers to it, was present for roughy 40 hours, from sundown Friday until sundown Sunday.

Park staff disagree as to the nature of the temporary tunnel. While Subramani believes the “event” to be a “momentary Einstein-Rosen Bridge, or ‘wormhole,’ caused by the fluctuating curvature of space-time,” Prospect Park Alliance shamanist/occultist Leo Pettibone points out that the tunnel appeared in the days immediately before the new moon, which he believes to be too much of a coincidence for the anomaly to be non-magical in nature.

Whatever the cause, the passage was a welcome convenience to the residents of the Flatbush and Lefferts Gardens neighborhoods.

“That was great!” said Flatbush Avenue resident Elyse Harris, who used the tunnel to bring her daughter to a birthday party at the Picnic House on Saturday. “It saved so much time! I wish it had stuck around longer.”
